Reduce Recycle Reuse

Highly simple and effective way to nature conservation.

There is a huge imbalance in nature now a days. Nature is being threatened by various anthropological actions like deforestation, illegal wildlife trade, and pollution. Consequently, there have been huge spikes in zoonotic diseases, natural disasters, and global warming. Isn’t it essential that we restore the balance by making a conscious effort to create a state of harmony between people and the land? Yes indeed! So lets see how we can do this.

There are many ways we can help conserve the environment and participate in change this World Nature Conservation Day. World Nature Conservation Day is celebrated globally on July 28th to help raise awareness and protect the environment. Some of the best tools for change come from education, social media, and civil action. Through awareness everyone can hopefully recognize that a healthy environment is fundamental for a stable and productive society.

Environmental education aids in connecting us to our surroundings; whether we bring nature into a classroom setting or find impromptu teachable moments on a hike with friends! Environmental education benefits children, adults, and communities because more often than not learning transcends the classroom. Educating ourselves and our close friends/family allows us to understand how our actions affect our environment. Knowledge empowers us to take responsible action and hone the skills necessary to address complex environmental issues in our everyday life to ensure a healthy and sustainable future.

Social Media has given us huge platforms that we can use to communicate our interests and showcase our lives. We can reach millions of people with one click! Social media allows us to connect with people locally and globally on minor or major environmental issues. You can participate in World Nature Conservation Day by researching and supporting environmental campaigns and engaging in conversation with your loved ones. You never know if a post you make might inspire someone else to do the same.

Another way to participate in change is to take action! There are many ways that you can help conserve nature in your everyday life. You can cut down on how much you throw away and consume. Being more sustainable and following the three “R’s” (Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle) helps conserve natural resources and landfill space. Choosing to consume less animal products is also a great way to aid in conservation, even if it is only once a week. By eating one plant-based meal a day for a year, you could save ~200,000 gallons of water equaling 11,400 showers! You can also invest in reusable products like grocery bags, to go utensils, and water bottles. Using reusable items helps reduce the amount of single-use plastic that can end up in our oceans.

Celebrate World Nature Conservation Day by spreading information about the importance of conservation and appreciate the gift of nature. Take an oath to be more conscious and take steps to change some harmful habits you might be prone to. Being that we all inhabit the same planet it is in all our interest to celebrate, respect, and cherish our home. The future is sustainable, and sustainability is achievable when we all come together.

Happy World Nature Conservation Day!
