$122 Billion of American Rescue Plan ESSER Funds Approved and Distributed to all 52 States.

On January 18, 2022, the U.S. Department of education announced its approval of American Rescue Plan Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) plans to all 52 states (for 50 State Education Agency) in the US in December 2021. The department has distributed all $122 billion of ESSER funds for the American rescue plan to all 50 states which includes district of District of Columbia and Puerto Rico.

In March 2021, $81 billion of American Rescue Plan ESSER funds were already allocated to 50 states including Puerto Rico and the District of Columbia. That is around two third of the ESSER funds already allocated. The remaining one-third of funding of all $122 billion has been distributed to states with this final approval on December 30, 2021

These funds are allocated to keep schools open for in person instruction during COVID-19 pandemic and to meet challenges that surfaced during the mutating variants of corona virus. According to U S secretary, Miguel Cardona, 100% of these funds are made available as per plans and are used by states with a robust planning to keep the schools open and help students to thrive. He also addressed that it has been witnessed to have a positive impact on students learning in schools and in communities. Using these funds for in person learning is among the most important goals to achieve during this time of the pandemic crisis.

HVAC improvements are around 40% of districts plan- as per data collected by Burbio

Addressing the loss of instruction and its academic impact

Strong Education Workforce and related support plan

Launching platforms and pathways for entering teaching profession and communication platforms to promote such pathways

Early education support, resources for 4 years old allocated by some states

Labor shortages, transportation, mental health, and relevant other issues are addressed using the ESSER funds.
